There is a certain time of the day when all of the dogs just lay down and take a snooze. Maybe they have their own schedule? Anyway, wherever they are, always at the same approximate time they all lay down and take a nap. Do your dogs do the same? Dixie seems to be the only one who never gets tired. She’s always wanting to play and I usually have to end our game of fetch when it’s hot out because she doesn’t know when to stop!
I snapped some photos of the little ones while they were in their favorite napping places.
Poor Stitchy has what we think may be a bad flea allergy. He’s having to wear a cone because he’s started chewing himself bloody. We’re working on ridding the house of fleas right now.
The little Murd Man sleeping beside the computer table where his mistress was sitting.
Sherlock took a snooze on a bench. (We had to remove the bench because the pups got their paws stuck in it.)
Dixie of course wanted to be different and go out and play. So we did. 🙂

Hello again, everyone!
Now for a proper introduction to another of our furry— or rather feathered— friends. This is Ladybird, my female cinnamon Cockatiel. She is approx. 8-9 years old and was given to me by a friend who was moving. I’ve owned her for about a year now, I believe it’s been. Now these aren’t the best photos of her but I’ll try to get more of her sometime. I had never owned a Tiel, as they are affectionately called, before but when I was about 7-8 years old, our parents bought me and my sisters each a budgie. J. G., my older sister, and I both had blue males; and P. C. my younger sister, had a green female whom she dubbed Tweety. Mine was named Stuart Little. They were by no means tame but I loved to watch them and listen to them. Tweety was constantly picked on by the other two and she died after a year. Stuart lived a bit longer and he was with me for about 2 1/2 years. J.G.’s reached the ripe old age of 5.
I had studied Cockatiels for some time before my friend asked me if I would like to give Ladybird a home. As you can imagine, I was ecstatic when my parents said that yes I could give her a home. So that’s how Ladybird came to be with me. She’s a very, very, VERY sweet bird and would like nothing better than to cuddle with you. She’s very tame but she does have her off days now and then. Her favorite toys are papers to shred; and her favorite thing to do is ride around on my dad’s shoulder and have her head scratched. Another of her favorite things to do are taking showers and staring at herself in a mirror, admiring her smooth feathers. She lets you know when she’s done with her food bowl by un-hooking it off the bars and chirping loudly. Her favorite treat is millet. Ladybird also likes spending her spare time watching the fish in the tank and exploring the bedroom floor when the dogs aren’t around. My friend’s mom said Ladybird can say “I love you” but I haven’t heard her say it yet, and she can do “Yoo-hoo” and wolf whistles. And here she is! Miss Ladybird!
Tell me I’m beautiful!
What’s this? A speck of dust on my perch! Quick somebody clean it up!
Ah, thank you. Now I can sleep in peace. Now if you’ll just cover my cage, I’d be indebted to you, my good lady.

Okay so here’s the deal with the title. My mom STILL can’t make up her mind on what to name her fish. I keep tellin’ her name him Mr. Lovewell, so I think she’s startin’ to lean toward that. But a lady named Rebecca who commented before suggested one that I really like and that’s Rotlich, which means readdish in German. My mom says I’m Scottish but I like the German language. 🙂 While she’s thinkin’ about the name, I snuck on the computer to show you guys some new pictures of the fish. (Golly, it’s hard to type with paws as big as mine!)
Preeettyyyy! Mom says he’s a dragonscale betta.
Could he be a feathertail betta?
AUUGHHHHHHHH!!! …..Oh geez! He scared me half to death! I thought aliens were invading! (Maybe I’ve been watching too much Twilight Zone) Hey! Maybe we oughta name him Rod Serling!
Hmmmm…you kinda get used to that scary beard after awhile….
And finally, here’s picture my mom took of the fish’s home (A 3 gallon Critter Keeper). I like water, but I wouldn’t to live in it. Sherlock said he was goin’ to liberate the fish. What’s liberate mean?
I hope ya’ll enjoyed the pictures! 🙂 Oh yeah and my mom took those pictures not me. I haven’t got the hang of gettin’ my dew claw around so I can push down on the shutter button.

Dixie has been doing marvelous with her hoop jumping skills! So far, we’d been doing a few inches off the ground, and then add another…and another… and another. As long as she was comfortable with it and I didn’t think it would strain her. I’m so proud of her! Today she made 12 inches! It was funny because I was holding the hoop getting out my clicker and treats, and she was already going through the hoop; she couldn’t wait to start. We haven’t quite started “Sit-Up” yet but we’ll get there. Tomorrow, I’ll try to get some photos of Dixie and her hoop.
Most of the time, if you look up resource guarding dogs, it’ll be about dogs who guard against people. Dixie doesn’t have this problem; rather, her problem is guarding against other dogs. Here is an article by Pat Miller concerning this problem: http://www.whole-dog-journal.com/issues/14_10/features/Resource-Guarding-Behavior-Modification_20368-1.html?zkPrintable=true#.T5ODCUL9XAF.facebook
Today, I made peanut butter fudge and Dixie decided she wanted to help. “Help clean up your mess,” she said. Every Christmas and Thanksgiving, our aunt makes fudge for everyone and this year I got the recipe from her. It’s fun and easy to make, and oh so much more fun to eat! 😉
I like helpin’!
What’s this? Empty?!
Ah ha! Guilty as charged! (Note the marshmallow on her nose)
The finished product! Mmmm….Can’t wait for it to cool off…*slurp*

Recently, Dixie has become obsessed with westerns; including “The Wild, Wild West”, “Bonanza”, “Rawhide”, “The Lone Ranger”, and a few others. She has been watching westerns and AirBud since she a wee pup. She dug into the closet and dug out my felt cowboy hat and BEGGED me to put it on her along with her blue bandanna.
See, mom?! I’m smiling! Now can we go play, huh? I know EXACTLY where my ball is! Can we go now?! PLEASE!
Correction: Tsk, tsk. Poor pet. I was just humoring her and I did NOT dig into the closet! YOU did! And I asked for my PURPLE bandanna NOT the blue one. Really, mom. You need to get your facts straight. I do like watching AirBud and I’ve seen all of ’em. 🙂 But it’s mom who’s obsessed with westerns. She just finished watching “The Wild Wild West” for the fifth time over a span of two years. And she watches Bonanza on Saturdays and borrows Rawhide from the library whenever they get a new season. They just got season 3 and 4 so *sigh*, I’ll be humoring her for a little while longer I suppose. Hah! Next thing you know, she’ll be wanting me to play dead after a “duel” or something! Oh yeah! And today she got this really cool ring thingy and boy is it fun running through!
That “ring thingy” is a hula hoop, Dix. And I am NOT obsessed! Well..maybe just a teeny bit. 🙂
Oh yeah…that thing... *blush*Sure, sure, mom! I believe you. 😉

I’ve been a member on the GoldenRetrieverForum for some time now but I usually am only around there when I have a question or two. I logged on the day before yesterday and had a question about Frisbee training and I needed some suggestions for new tricks. Member “Summer’s Mom” had TONS of brilliant ideas and gave me a link to her YouTube channel where she has some videos of Summer’s tricks. HERE is the post with some videos she posted when I asked about teaching “Sit Up”. I’ve been having trouble teaching Dixie this one because her balance (and mine) were a bit off. But with “Summer’s Mom”‘s method I think we may be able to pull it off. 😀 I’m going to try to teach Dixie this starting tomorrow.
I FINALLY bought a hula hoop today (it’s so hard to find a reasonably priced one around here!) at Menards for $5. They were like $8 or $9 at WalMart. 😛 But Dixie is excited about it! I thought she might be a bit afraid of it initially but she’s been a doll about it. So far, she’s just getting used to going through it at an inch off the floor after she went through it on her own several times when it was sitting on the floor. Wish us luck! ^.^ I’ll try to get some pictures of our training sessions soon. 🙂

The other night, Dixie was in a photo shoot mode where she would pose and stay there waiting for the camera shutter to click. So this post is just a bunch of pictures of my little Dixie Cup.
How’s this pose?

How’s this pose? Get my good side!
This, folks, is Tom. Or so we’ve begun to call him. I think he must belong to someone around our neighborhood but he’s spends most of his time on our porch begging. He’s real scared of loud noises but he likes being petted and stuff. I thought he was a small dog with a weird tail until my pet told me he was a cat. Well, he looked like one! Come to think of it though…he does talk funny…oh well. You win some, ya lose some. 🙂 I don’t think he likes Murdoch. Murdoch was sitting at the door, pretty as you please, watchin’ ol’ Tom when…whammy! Tom attacks the door. Murdoch giggled and watched some more. Tsk, tsk. I worry bout that kid sometimes. Anyways, just thought I’d let you know about Tom. 🙂
